So today is Neva's first baby yoga class. She's a bit cranky at the moment so I hope this works out. It should since most of her crankiness can be attributed to her upcoming nap which she's fighting, as usual... After that we're meeting Grandpa at IKEA to buy these for the studio/nursery. Our current desk is a metal and plywood wreck - on of those work stations with no drawers so everything just hangs out, wires dangle everywhere and its generally an eyesore with Neva's new furniture in there. After we get these pieces in there we have only one more piece to get/assemble. So...I'm guessing by the time she's 4 months we'll finally have her nursery done.
While I ran through the early 7th month of my pregnancy I had to give it up because it started to feel uncomfortable, but not before completing a handful of 5Ks and the Army 10-miler. Now I'm working on being a new (and first-time) Mom and getting my running legs back. There'll be some complaining, some musing, some training. Read along if that sounds good to you.

Hello again.
I feel compelled to apologise for how long its taken me to get back to blogging. My excuse is that Neva arrived 3 weeks early and caught us all flatfooted - I was scrambling for a while to catch up but I think we've finally established a sort of rhythm.
The trick has been Lloyd's schedule - which while as a schoolteacher he's home by 3:30 but as a musician he isn't always been around. Which sucks. Sometimes I just need to hand Neva off to someone to have a moment to myself. She's great, don't mistake me but there's something to be said for peeing without squirming infant in your arms that you can't put down because she'll start howling.
Still, I've found some time to run. Nothing fantastic and certainly nothing regular but its time to shake off some craziness and worry. Especially after the Moms group that's run at the hospital. I think I only have it in me to go for another week or so. Those ladies, while very nice, think too hard and voice too many concerns and in doing so make me paranoid about how Neva eats, sleeps, breathes, is developing, isn't developing...

Odd thought.
It occurred to me today that Neva's more Polish and German than I am and I'm more Irish than she is... What's more, she's of Russian decent and I'm not.
Hmm....
It appears I have too much thinking time on my hands.

Quickie
So...its been a while.
Here's the short of it. My levels were so low at my appointment on December 24 that I was told I was going no where but up to Labor and Delivery. Some phone calls and my doctor consult later I was allowed to go home to have Christmas but only with the promise that my butt would be back at the hospital between 7 & 9pm Christmas night.
Mad dash of holidays (Christmas Eve at my cousin's, Christmas Day at my parents) and packing...I was checked in and the induction process started by 10pm on Christmas night.
And then we waited
And waited
And waited.
Two days later, two strips of cervidil and a pitocin drip later, I still hadn't progressed beyond 2cm. My options were, stop and start the induction process over, break my water to progress the labor which might result in fetal distress and an emergency C-section, or skip all that and head straight to C-section.
After much deliberation...seriously it took me a few hours to say "c-section," that's the route we took.
Neva Juliet was born three weeks early at 2:51pm, December 27, 2009. 5lbs, 1oz and 18.5 inches long.

Frequent Flyer Group.
That's what the tech told me I had become a member of after yesterday's (a Sunday...I know!) growth scan. Right after that she added the words "high risk." That freaked Lloyd out completely, me not as much. It was a little funny watching Lloyd grill the tech - he was so very serious and acting very much like his mother.
So here's the thing...I'm not carrying enough amniotic fluid (I'm at 8.5 and normal range is 10-20) for Lloyd'qwa but I'm coming off a cold and knew I was dehydrated. Its hard for me to drink anything when I'm sick...I want to take cold meds and sleep - only I couldn't do either of those things this time. The added problem is, too much water gives me heartburn and so does most juices. Mineral water works, but I can only stand so much of it before I'm full.
End result of yesterday's appointment - one more thing for Lloyd to fuss at me over (still pestering me about my lack of weight gain even though 25lbs so far I'm precisely on target, poking me if he happens to find me sleeping on my back), a "oh-my-god-is-that-her-nose-oh-no-whew-its-her-thumb-in-front-of-her-face" 3D picture for the fridge, and another appointment on Thursday for another check and weekly's until Lloyd'qwa arrives.
Lloyd was pouring mineral water down my throat yesterday, I think I'm still sloshing...

Warm fuzzies.
My sister and mother threw me a baby shower on Sunday. It was lovely. Sigh. So many teeny tiny baby clothes. It seems impossible something so small is going to be my responsibility. That first set of baby socks really shook me up, but by the end I was drowning in them. :D
Had another Doctor's appointment today. Lloyd'qwa's heartbeat was ticking along just as strong as ever - but a reassuring sound to hear each time I go in there. I was told I'm not dilated (might have fainted on the spot if I were), so the doc informed me that she'll be in there another 2 to 3 weeks. Weeks... OMG...
One more Saturday
Three more Tuesdays
Fourteen more working days...but who's counting.

Baby Buggin'
So this all just got a little more real.
I know, I know. It should have been real all along. And it has been - how could it not be with all these doctor's appointments and her banging around in there? But committing to a stroller and a car seat. Holy pacifiers, Batman!
And the cost. Jeez...but I'm justifying it by pointing out to myself that we'll be on foot - Lloyd'qwa and I - almost exclusively. And we'll be out of the house as soon and as often as possible. I can't sit in the house, as much as our place is finally coming together. I have a hard time with winter and well...I'm a little worried.
